Health and Safety at PoCC and SDLC

We want all NAIS conference attendees to have an exceptional experience. The health and safety of participants is the number one priority at all of our events. Below, you will find information about health and safety at NAIS People of Color Conference (PoCC) and NAIS Student Diversity Leadership Conference (SDLC).

For our first in-person PoCC/SDLC since 2019, we’ve implemented a few additional measures to keep all attendees safe and healthy. If you have any questions in advance, please contact us. Onsite, stop by and see us in the NAIS Information Booth in the main lobby.

Before You Arrive

  • We encourage you to follow the CDC’s vaccination recommendations.
  • Please consider testing for COVID-19 before you travel. If you test positive or feel ill, please stay home or away from the event.
  • Please consider masking while you travel to the event to help protect yourself and others.

In San Antonio

  • Please wear your badge at all times in the convention center. If you misplace your badge, we can help you at the registration desk. If you forget it, we’ll ask you to go retrieve it.
  • We encourage all participants to wear masks indoors except when actively eating, drinking, or presenting.
  • If you wish to share photos online, please do not include any identifying information, such as your badge or room number. Make sure you have the permission of everyone in your photo before you post. Workshop and seminar presenters own the copyright on their slide decks; please seek their permission before photographing their slides. Video recording of conference content is not permitted.
  • As part of our event safety protocol, security guards may ask to inspect bags or packages. Weapons of any sort are not allowed in the convention center.
  • Please keep your cell phone with you. We will send text messages, phone calls, or emails to provide important updates or in the event of an emergency.
  • If you see something of concern, let an NAIS staff member or security officer know or dial 911.
Thank you for your flexibility and help in making PoCC/SDLC a successful and rewarding experience for all attendees!
