2021 PoCC Frequently Asked Questions

When does the conference begin/end?

The conference dates are Monday, November 29, through Friday, December 3. Optional pre-conference programming is held on November 29-30 and is not included in the registration fee. Additional costs may apply.

The conference officially opens Wednesday, December 1, at 11:00 AM Eastern Time, and concludes Friday, December 3, with a choice to participate in Club PoCC Online or a family-friendly Magic Show from 8:00-9:30 PM Eastern Time.

Where does the conference take place?
The conference will take place fully online/virtual.

Who goes to the conference?
The NAIS People of Color Conference is our flagship equity event. PoCC is designed for BIPOC as it relates to their roles in independent schools. Conference programming focuses on leadership development, success strategies, and providing a sanctuary for BIPOC. The conference also provides networking opportunities for BIPOC and allies seeking to build and sustain inclusive school communities.

We encourage participation by any member of the independent school community committed to the ongoing development of racially, ethnically, and culturally diverse, equitable, and just schools and organizations. This includes diversity leaders, trustees, heads of school, teachers, and anyone else interested in fostering the conference mission and deepening DEIJB in our schools.

Are there key registration deadlines that I should know about?
Early Bird pricing ends on November 1, 2021. Standard pricing applies after November 1, 2021.

How does the group discount work?
NAIS offers special group rates to those who are registering 10 or more individuals from their school. All 10+ individuals registered at the same time will receive the discounted rate.

We encourage teams from schools to come to the conference together, attend workshops, and bring back shared experiences and knowledge to implement on campus.

My school is in the process of applying for NAIS membership. Can I still register at the member rate?
Yes, if your school is in the process of completing an application for membership, contact our membership team at [email protected] or 202-973-9700 for information on how to obtain the member discount.

Can I add other events or activities to my registration at a later date?
Yes, you can log back into your registration profile and register for pre-conference seminars or other conference events and activities.

How do NAIS Supporters utilize their member discount for conference registration?
Supporters should automatically receive a discount when they register online. If it doesn't appear, we need to ensure the contact is attached properly to the record.

My school PoCC registration is being paid for by a third party. How do I register without having to submit payment immediately?
The school needs to register all of the team and pick the option to “pay by check” on the payment page. Then the local intermediate unit (whoever needs to pay) issues the check to NAIS. Checks should be sent to:

PO Box 75754
Baltimore, MD 21275-5754

Or, you may select the option to pay by "purchase order." Please scan and send Purchase Order to [email protected]. Purchase Orders must be received by November 15, 2021.

If you select a check or purchase order payment, a balance due will display until payment is received and applied.

I have specific questions about my PoCC registration or need to make changes. Who can help?
